I got the call this morning, my ob's nurse said "you have gestational diabetes" oh yay! I also got the call from the diabetic specialists and got my appt. set up. And she said one thing I could do to start the process is to cut out juice and soda...ok well I didn't drink much soda any way, but JUICE? I know it is high in sugar, but I thought it was GOOD sugar. I drink A LOT of juice, I thought I was doing me and the baby good, buy drinking juice, I guess not! Oh well. So I told my hubby he's going to have to eat on the diet I'm put on too, because I'm not making two different meals. He made a sad face, but it will be for the better. It will make us to eat healthier and not just eat what we want to eat when we want to eat it. In a way it's kind of funny, because normally when I'm not pregnant I CAN eat and drink whatever I want whenever I want and not gain a pound, but when I'm pregnant it's WAY different, I guess.
So I guess I'll just add this to my list of problems...

I really hope not!
When I was pregnant with Baby J they had the glucose test around 28 weeks and then if you failed you had to do a 3 hr. fasting glucose test. I did fail, but only because they told me I could eat whatever I wanted before the test, so I ate leftovers which was mostly mashed potatoes, so of course that's all going to turn into sugar and then the sugar drink on top of that will set me over! So I had to do the 3 hr. fasting test, which I passed, so I did not have gestational diabetes.
This pregnancy, they have new standards so they do a fasting test between 16-19 weeks with no sugar drink, just fast and get your blood taken the next day...and they also have new standards of what is "normal" well what the American college of obstetrics and gynecology thinks is normal is a glucose level of 92 after fasting, well my number is 96, but my gynecologist signed off on it, so the nurse said he either isn't concerned with it or he just didn't see the number....so I have to wait until tomorrow to hear what he says. I really hope I don't have gestational diabetes, that would suck!
On a good note my thyroid levels are still in good range! YAY!

still hope for a girl!
Just when I was starting to think maybe this baby is another boy, the heartbeat today is still giving me hope for a girl! 154, still pretty high, I know with my son his heart rate dropped down into the high 130's low 140's at the second appt. so yay for that! We have an ultrasound on the 24th and I'm soooo excited to see our little bean again! I was so hungry this morning, they had me fast for the glucose test, and telling a pregnant woman that she can't eat, is torture! I hope it comes out fine and I hope my thyroid levels are fine, I guess we'll see.

always on my mind
being hypothyroid and being pregnant I always wonder if my levels are good enough for the baby, they have been fine so far, but it's always in the back of my mind, am I drinking enough water to absorb the pill, or am I waiting long enough after I take it to eat, and I wonder if my baby will end up having this disease too and have to take pills their whole life. I get my levels checked again in a couple of weeks, hopefully they are still in the good range. And we get to hear the heartbeat again, I always look forward to that, for some reassurance. I have felt the baby move a little, but can't wait until the kicks and punches are more constant.
One other random thought...being a stay at home mom is the best, and I think is making this pregnancy better all around...if I get tired, I just take a break and as long a break I want, dishes and laundry can wait! I wish it was mandatory 1 year maternity leave in the U.S. for those working mommies.
